Leslie’s Own Story
I have been growing and wild harvesting useful herbs since the early ’90s. Spurred on by the high cost of diaper cream with lesser quality ingredients, my first product, now Baby Balm, was created for my own babies. That later became the base for an all natural deodorant, my Deodorant Crème.
Then came St. John’s Wort Oil in the later ’90s, to replace a petrolatum based ointment I had used for years for bumps. bruises, cuts and scrapes. Healing Salve was our Christmas present to all the neighbors in ’98, one friend calling it the best they had ever used.
Deep Healing Hot Oil came after I broke a tendon in my leg playing volleyball in ’99. Its healing and pain reducing qualities impressed everyone who tried it.
Fire Cider was added when everyone was worried about plagues during the first decade of the new century. Healthy Air joined Fire Cider for our family’s respiratory health.
Hand and Laundry Bar came in 2005 because mmaking soap from “recycled” fats seemed like a good use of the fats and a valuable skill to know. Then we fell in love with the soap as a laundry bar and many others love it as their bath bar!.
St. John’s Wort Oil got turned into Salve and Owie Sticks by adding beeswax in 2008, just for our Farmer’s Market. Grandkids were the 1st testers and they love their little sticks!
Poison Oak Relief became one of my husband’s favorite products when we moved into the thick of it for 7 years!
Long-lasting Hand Sanitizer was needed before a cross-country trip, Hand Cakes just because they seemed cool and Tooth Powder with Xylitol and Baking Soda because of using it myself after the dentist’s recommendation.
All this was a good way to give my Chemistry degree and love for good nutrition to keep my family well, an outlet I call “Kitchen Chemistry.” I can be at home with my family but still helping people and bringing in some extra income.
Each new item comes from a need in my family’s life, shared with friends and relatives and then larger batches are made to supply folks all over the country!
